in coversation with: Wood
in conversation with: Wood, 2021
Following on from the concepts grounding 'Concrete Empathy', 'in conversation with: Wood' continues to explore the relationships that could be possible between humans and non-humans if all hierarchies were removed.
Concrete Empathy
CONCRETE EMPATHY, 2021
Playing such a crucial role in the development of social and political policies, 'Concrete Empathy' takes the time to truly look at the material building the world around us and the connects we as humans have with it. Is concrete able to empathise?
Embedded Evocations
EMBEDDED EVOCATIONS, 2020
Tangibly exploring the relationship between elusive memories and the lasting, permanent effects those experiences can have on your life, through the juxtaposition between translucent materials and the permanent states of media such as resin and concrete. Providing the potential to evoke more intense memories than photographs are able to.
MATERIAL INVESTIGATIONS, 2020
Interrogating techniques that can incorporate fabric within resin and concrete to allow for the possible application for my woven designs to be expanded.
LAYERING JUXTAPOSITIONS, 2020
Exploring how the juxtapositions between material qualities and shapes found in modern Hong Kong architecture can be incorporated on a loom.
Transitioning Fields
TRANSITIONING FIELDS, 2019
Photography inspired by art from the Colour Field Movement in the 1960's has informed explorations into how yarn and structure can provide colour blending effects.
Layering Fields
LAYERING FIELDS, 2019
Combining research from the transitioning fields project - exploring how the the physical interaction of colour can create designs instead of just an aesthetic surface interaction.
Panels for Change
PANELS FOR CHANGE, 2019
A collaborative Manchester inspired acoustic wall panelling proposal. Inspiration was taken from Manchester's rich suffragette history and translated through 3D printing and reusing redundant material into an interactive wall panelling that would change colour according to the positioning of the viewer.
Minerals
MINERALS, 2018
Translating the juxtaposition of tactility and colour found in minerals through yarn qualities, leading to creating processes for making unique yarn textures.
Mohair
